UTOPIA
acrylic, chalk on canvas, 2024
"It is Gaia that we are talking about, a living earth that breathes and swarms with creatures inseparable from their mother cloth. The work penetrates there, follows each outline, transforms sometimes into a Gorgon, sometimes into a permanent host of nature. Mesological relationship to the world which invites us to rethink the intimate links between being and the environment, minerals and plants, man and his habitat. Letting history, love and feelings show through ecumenal bridges: such is the challenge of the artist sailing from the architectural plants of her birthplace to the dense vegetation of urban forests." by Marc-Williams Debono
"Blue, much like a jazz riff, evolves throughout her work. It deepens and lightens, blending with other colors, shifting between moments of intensity and quiet reflection. In this way, blue embodies the tension between motion and stillness—allowing the urban landscape to move and change, while holding it together. It is through this metaphorical use of blue that Chen finds her utopia: a place where the dissonant elements of city life—its entanglements, its contradictions—are held together, not by force, but by the grounding presence of blue." by Tina Lai
